How is international humanitarian law (IHL), also known as the law of armed conflict, relevant in the Asia-Pacific? How has this region contributed to the development of IHL?

Can we identify a regional perspective on this body of rules?

Join us to discuss these questions as part of the global launch of the inaugural edition of the Asia-Pacific Journal of International Humanitarian Law (APJIHL).

The APJIHL is a joint publication of the Institute of International Legal Studies-University of the Philippines Law Center (UP-IILS) and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). The Journal has a special focus on the Asia-Pacific region, and collates peer-reviewed scholarly articles, book reviews, and commentary on significant developments in international humanitarian law and related fields.

Our three distinguished panellists will offer candid reflections and insights drawing on their experience working in the field of international humanitarian law in the Asia-Pacific. The moderated panel discussion will be followed by a live audience Q&A.

When: 10 November 2020 (3:00 pm Manila time, 9:00 am Geneva time)
